Rights Respecting School
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement for putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches children about the rights but also models rights and respect through a variety of relationships.
In April 2019, we achieved the highest level awarded by UNICEF, which is Gold level. This is due to the level at which rights are embedded into our CARE values within our MAT and the dedication of staff as duty bearers to ensure the varied articles of the convention are organically woven into our curriculum and the ethos of our school.
We promise to help every child to realise their own rights and respect the rights of others by being responsible for their own actions and decisions. In the second half of the Autumn Term, children take part in activities surrounding their rights called safety week. We involve parents by asking families to make a pledge or promise to support our work in school and children everywhere.
